The psychoanalytic approach to psychotherapy is a comprehensive and in-depth therapeutic method that originated from the work of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. It is based on the belief that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by unconscious processes and childhood experiences.
Sessions will last 55 minutes long. During the session, you will talk about anything you like (random thoughts, a pressing situation, a recent dream) and we will have a conversation, attempting to understand the connections and patterns.
Ideally psychoanalytic psychotherapy works best when meeting weekly. This allows the maximum use of each session and allows for a greater connection between us as we work together.
With any type of therapy, there is some uncertainty if it will be the best fit for you. Typically I like to consider the first month of therapy as a trial period where we can see what it feels like to work together and if you think it can be helpful.
